Family Fun Day

Skye spent all day with her Kaki and Hachie last Saturday preparing a HUGE Chinese dinner for us. Skye loves cooking and really enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her Grandparents. Kaki had nothing but praise for how Skye behaves in the kitchen. We may have a budding culinary genius in the family.

News From Iraq

Josh had a chance to visit the Palace that used to belong to Saddam Hussein while in Baghdad earlier this month. Josh said it was really pretty and that it was a nice break from life in "K-Town". All went really well until Josh had a small mishap with his camera. Apparently it can't survive a drop down two flights of marble stairs. Well, at least the SD card survived! Doesn't he look cute?!

Skye's room

All right, my little girl seems to be growing up. She said that as much as she loved the fairy murals her father and I slaved over, she was out growing them. She asked me if I would consider painting over them. I let her know that Jax's room took precedents and if I had time, I would work on hers. Well I did. Here are the before pictures of her room. Please know that it REALLY HURT to paint over the murals. It was the best bird and turtle I have ever painted!

Step 1: Paint over the murals with primer. (sob, sob)
Step 2: Tape and primer a stripe around the room and paint over primered murals.

Step 3: Paint stripe and add some girly touches:

Jaxon's room

OK....Skye had her room done last year and Jaxon really wanted something done in his room. So, while they were in Maryland, I worked on changing his room. Here is a before picture of his room.

I had planned on a pirate theme and Josh had drawn some murals to go along with it, but I was a little worried. Skye changed her mind after 1 year and I was not about to go through that again. I decided to do something different. I did ask permission of Josh and Jax before I proceeded.

Step one : Paint the room a really dark blue.

Step 2: Sponge on 2 darker and 1 lighter blue in a random pattern.

Step 3: Stencil on stars with a glow in the dark paint.

Step 4 : Add some 3-D planets,an asteroid belt and a black light

Just a good picture

Just a good picture of Skye and Grand Pop.

A Big Tuesday

The Kiddos, joined by Grammy and Grand Pop headed over to Aunt Helen's house Tuesday for a little swimming action. Well, I think G & G may have taken a nap while the kids went swimming. (I wouldn't blame the if they did! I would have!) Everyone had a great time.

Here are Jax, Aunt Helen and Ava. Looks like a heated game.

Here are Skye and Aunt Helen chillin out on floats.I think some rest was called for after all that water tennis.

After swimming, G & G, Skye and Jax met Uncle Frank back at the house. Uncle Frank had spent the morning crabbing and came away with a good 2 bushels. Skye was a little gun shy on the crabs because they were "covered in dirt". After Grammy explained that they weren't covered in dirt, but in seasoning, Skye dove in. I hope Skye and Jax had their fill. We can't go crabbin' here in Texas!

A big "THANK YOU" to Uncle Frank and Aunt Helen! You two are awesome!
